Workshop with Georgia Clemson

07/08/23

Today, Creative Health Camden hosted an art workshop with our current exhibiting artist, Georgia Clemson.

Today's workshop at Creative Health Camden explored the fascinating concept of creating abstract shapes through body movements.

Participants engaged in a unique process where they drew around their bodies as they gracefully moved on a piece of paper, capturing the spaces between the edges where their hands met their waists, knees, necks, or elbows. This innovative approach unveiled the beauty of the human form beyond conventional judgments.

Inspired by Georgia Clemson's thought-provoking video work, 'Explorer's Log' 2023, part of 'The vessel that contains me,' the workshop took participants on a creative journey to imagine themselves as islands. As a team, they used drawing and body movements to give shape to their very own 'islands,' envisioning a place with its weather system, terrain, and unique laws of the land.

Throughout the session, participants delved into the intriguing idea of being an island and defined rules for visitors to their imaginary land. They explored questions like "What if you were an island?" and "What would be the rules for those who visit?" Each participant crafted a visual description of their newly formed island, sparking their imagination and creativity.
